A young western servant girl found hiding in the tower of Kraus’s Folly — bought from her family by a “lord” she hasn’t seen since she arrived, by a route she can’t explain. Now in the party’s care.

What We Know (all S4)

  • Wearing a simple smock; looks western; speaks Morschatti (Ari established communication).
  • Servant of “the lord” of the Folly; has been there several months; the lord’s quarters were already furnished when she arrived.
  • Doesn’t know how she arrived: the lord appeared at her small village, paid her family for her, they traveled a bit, her head was covered — and then she was simply there.
  • Has never seen her lord since arriving. Has seen some people from a distance out the windows.
  • Kept the lord’s rooms and lived off a food storage room. Treated well.
  • Reads as scared and straightforward — no sense she’s hiding anything.
  • The party grabbed her when they fled the creature in the dungeon.

Speculation

The head-covering followed by unexplained arrival fits teleportation — and there’s a strong Logos-magic warp circle in the courtyard. Whoever her lord is, he moves people through that circle. Lindse may be able to identify him, the noblewoman (black hair, petite), or the “people at a distance” if shown the right faces. See The Lord of Kraus’s Folly.

Status (S5)

  • Absorbed into the party’s servant retinue — notional, since they brought no servants to Halwa — and sailed back east with them.
  • Ari has charge of her, being the only one who speaks her language — Reichspiel, the Morschatti tongue of Morrschatten. (S4’s “speaks Morschatti” and S5’s “only speaks Reichspiel” are the same fact.)

Status (S6)

  • Ismad’s ruling: keep her as a servant. Uncle’s Men are not taking her, questioning her formally, or sending her back. She stays with the party, in Hazad, as staff.
  • She was in the Ulpia estate the night the capital rioted. See The Riot at the Ulpia Estate.

Speculation

“Keep her as a servant” is a decision, not a shrug. Ismad had the option of putting a bought western child who lived inside the Folly in front of people who question people for a living, and declined. Either he doesn’t think she knows anything, or he thinks she is safer — or more useful — where she is.

Open Questions

  • Still nobody has shown her a description of anyone. Two sessions on. See below.
  • Can she describe the lord? (Tall, sandy blond, likely Averoigne — per Madeline Foussard, S5.) Nobody has shown her that description yet.
  • Would she recognise Constanza Bethlen — ~20, dark hair — as one of the “people at a distance”?
  • What happens to her once the party reaches Hazad? She is a bought western child in a country where that will raise questions.
