Gnaeus’s servant and bodyguard, with the party from Session 1. Killed in Session 9 by a masked Corrupted’s axe, in the domed hall under the ruins at The Mirror Lake.

What We Know

  • † Killed by an axe to the head in the fight with five masked Corrupted who had demanded a “pilgrim’s sign” in the Black Speech — “a brutal fight.” The party killed all five. (S9)
  • Cremated the next day with Farraj’s fire magic. (S9) The party held a ceremony and kept his ashes. (Aaron, 2026-10-03) What word has gone — or can go — to his people isn’t recorded; the party is many weeks beyond the border.
  • Came south on the pilgrim’s road with the party when Lindse and the other servants were sent home as too dangerous to bring. (Aaron; S8)
  • Cured. Ismad pointed the party at Father Jamar; Titus stayed overnight in the chapel and the recovery worked. (S6) See The Curse on Titus.
  • Cursed by The Abbot during the retreat from the Sanctum of Sethariel. The eastern priest in Halwa said lifting it would need a much stronger priest. (S5)
  • Comprehensively outclassed by Visenne de Tarrand in sparring at the Citadel of Gazra — she is far better, and she has a house gift for it (Skill at Arms). Worth knowing what the party’s best blade actually rates against a western Order Militant knight. (S6)
  • Went into the expat quarter in disguise with Gnaeus and Farraj. (S5)
  • Serves as Gnaeus’s bodyguard and general capable hands.
  • Weathered the storm on the voyage out without trouble, unlike his employer. (S4)
  • Evaluated Ari’s combat capabilities — found her more capable than expected — and got her fitted for armor and weapons on Gnaeus’s orders. (S2)

Speculation

The curse came off in a night. Either it was an ordinary malediction after all — killing the wiki’s “it’s a soul-mark, not a curse” theory — or it came off too easily. No re-examination is on record — and the party isn’t planning one: their working stance is that lifted curses don’t come back (Aaron, 2026-08-16). See The Curse on Titus and The Call at the Sanctum.

Speculation

He survived one sanctum and died at the door of the next. The abbot’s curse (S5) came off; the party’s stance was that lifted curses don’t come back, and nothing in the S9 notes suggests this was anything but an axe. The wiki knows of exactly one reputed road back from death — Lusia Balventia’s Ritual of Rebirth, “if the Maker so wills it” (GM) — and the notes don’t record anyone raising it. He has been cremated, weeks from Hazad; the party carries his ashes.
