The religious traditionalists — led, “kinda,” by House al-Bushra.
Agenda
More doctrinal difference between the eastern and western church. They believe the faith that came out of the old empire fell to the Deceiver, and their own newer version of the faith of the Maker is purer. (S2)
The Faith primer sharpens the theology (GM): the Separatist claim is not a new creed but that inherited interpretation should be re-examined wherever reason, Revelation, experience, or the Schism itself gives cause for doubt. They don’t hold that every old teaching is wrong — they reject the assumption that a teaching must be right merely because the united Church once accepted it. (Worth knowing when reading Haroun’s family politics: it is a reformist epistemology, not just traditionalism.)
Stance on the Succession
Concerned about a non-traditional bride for Baahir. (S2)
Relationships
- Often aligned with the Conservatives, but the axis is religious rather than cultural.
- Opposite pole from the Unificationists and Loyalists.
- Haroun al-Affan’s family (al-Affan) belongs to this faction. (S2)
