Southern Hazad — rough, mostly undeveloped terrain stretching down the south edge of the Circle Sea toward lands controlled by the Corrupted.
Overview
More developed under the Old Empire; dotted with ruins of that era, and reputedly even older elven ruins — cursed and dangerous places. The Sultan has opened the area for settlement with ownership rights for developers, but few succeed against the terrain, colder winters, and roving Corrupted bands. Relic hunters and scavengers work the ruins; most are little better than bandits.
Why It Matters
- One of the three sanctums from The Recovered Documents is “in badlands south of Cardacci” — on the far (western) side of the Circle Sea, but the same kind of ruin country. See The Sanctum Investigation.
- Old elven ruins + old elvish leylines is a suggestive combination.
