Pilgrimage city northwest of Isbi’liyyah, seat of House Balventia — and the birthplace of Blessed Augustina, the first Most Holy and founder of the Church. (S7)
Overview
The city is known as Karven / Karba — Karba is the Hazadi name for what the Imperials call Karven (S7). House Balventia holds the County of Karven, and Lusia Balventia is styled Countess of Karvena. As a major pilgrimage site — famous as Blessed Augustina’s birthplace — held by a house whose gift is divine channeling, it has religious weight far beyond its size.
- The city is on the river; the Balventia estate sits outside the city on a rise. Everything about the estate is very luxurious. (S7)
- Karven glass — the work of Clan Zum artisans, of whom there is obviously a large contingent here — is famous throughout Hazad, and is most Hazadis’ everyday image of dwarven craftsmanship. (GM, S7)
Events
- Session 7 — the party’s recovery visit after the riot: dinner with the Countess, the family chapel, and four days in the Balventia library. See House Balventia and The Orders of the Five Courts.
