The Eastern Church spiritual advisor assigned to the two captive Owl knights at the Citadel of Gazra — and she scanned the party with a divination on sight.
Naming collision
Sister Alia ≠ Sister Alasia. Alasia Fiermonti runs the western church in Halwa and is Haroun’s history. Sister Alia is an eastern churchwoman at a royal fortress two days from the capital. Different women, similar names.
What We Know (all S6)
- Older, grey-haired, stern.
- Assigned as spiritual advisor to Visenne de Tarrand and Isabel d’Allais — two western-rite knights held in an Eastern Church country. That posting is pastoral care, conversion pressure, and surveillance in one job.
- Subtly checked the party with some sort of divination ability when they arrived. The party noticed; she presumably intended them to, or didn’t care.
- She has confirmed that Isabel’s gift is not considered heretical by the Eastern Church — to the party, and to Isabel and Visenne. (GM, S6) That is the ruling Isabel’s father gambled his order’s last mission on, delivered five years late by the churchwoman assigned to mind her.
Why She Matters
She has spent five years alone with the only two Owl knights in Hazadi hands, in a role that invites confidences. Whatever Visenne and Isabel have said in five years, she heard first — and she reports to somebody.
Speculation
A stern older sister with a working divination gift, stationed at a fortress on the Sultan’s personal estate, minding foreign religious prisoners. That is a plausible Eyes posting, or a plausible Eastern Church one, and the party has no way to tell which. Assume the visit was reported.
Speculation
She is the one who cleared Isabel’s gift, and she is not obviously an enemy. A doctrinal ruling in a captive foreign heretic’s favour, from the churchwoman assigned to watch her, is not what five years of Eastern Church custody was supposed to produce. Either Alia is straightforwardly honest about doctrine, or she has been quietly building something with these two. Ask her what she thinks should happen to them — she may be the party’s best ally at Gazra rather than its obstacle.
