Knight Commander of the Order of the Swan, nephew to the late king, rival claimant to Averoigne — and the only man on record to accuse Michel d’Envers of the assassinations. Slain in battle Fall 1732.

- Knight Commander of the Order of the Swan, the order that protects Averoigne — and therefore a member of the Divine Council (Western Church) that elects the Most Holy.
- Nephew to the late King Etienne de la Courcel.
- Summer 1731: claims the throne after the murder of Marie-Celeste de la Courcel, in opposition to d’Envers — and publicly accuses d’Envers of being behind the assassinations. See The Night in the Royal Castle.
- Married to the Comtesse de Touraine in her own right.
- Summer 1732: several significant engagements against d’Envers’s forces.
- Fall 1732: slain in battle. His wife refuses to give up the fight and holds out at Touraine until Summer 1736.
- His daughters escaped the siege in Winter 1735 and are now guests of the Doge in Cardacci.
Why He Matters
His accusation is the only surviving public statement about who killed the heir of Averoigne and the head of the Order of the Owl. He made it, fought a four-year war over it, died, and his line was driven into exile — and the man he accused was crowned by the late king’s own advisor. His daughters carry whatever he knew.
