What We Know (all GM)
- Her name is Cataline. (GM, correcting the wiki — she had been recorded only by title.)
- Wife of Guillaume de Fausseflammes, and Comtesse de Touraine in her own right — the title and the lands are hers, not his.
- Fall 1732: on Guillaume’s death, refuses to give up the fight.
- Spring 1733: her forces retreat to Touraine and are put under siege.
- Fall 1733: negotiations for her surrender and the end of the civil war collapse over Rincon d’Envers’s reputation.
- Winter 1735: her three daughters escape the siege — Odette, Alphonsine, and Eloise — not discovered until much later.
- Summer 1736: Touraine falls. She kills herself rather than be captured. The civil war in Averoigne is technically over.
- Her daughters are now guests of the Doge in Cardacci.
Why She Matters
She held out three years past any hope of winning, and used the time to move three children across a border into the safekeeping of a foreign head of state. That is not a last stand; that is a woman buying an evacuation. Whatever her husband knew about who murdered the heir of Averoigne left the country with those girls.
